Carly’s Mom Gets Married

Just thought we would take a moment to congratulate Carly’s Mom Marie on her recent marriage.

She got married while visiting Carly in Las Vegas.  Here’s a lovely picture of (from left to right) Carly, her Mom, and her sister Shannon:

Congrats again Marie!

“Big News” Update

Just a quick update on this – there has not been any announce, as far as we know regarding Carly’s news that she mentioned in her tweets and while talking to Ben.

So far I have been unable to find anything about her on the red carpet at the Idol Finale or if she has made any announcements.

Rest assured we will let you know as soon as we have any information.

Carly & Ben – Part 2

Ben released the second (and final) part of his talk with Carly on You Tube today.

Let me summarize the major points:

  1. Carly will  be finished with Viva Elvis in August – and she wants to perform with WATF as soon as she can – and visit South America.
  2. Carly mentions her “big news” that she tweeted about last week.  She says she will reveal the details on the Idol Finale red carpet (which she will be attending with Ben.)  She drops hints that it is a solo project & was suggested to her by Rocky (of whom, Carly does an adorable impression.)
  3. Ben’s snoring on tour (which he claims is now cured).
  4. Ben’s obsession with space & science and talking about it endlessly to whoever is there (hilariously edited by Ben).
  5. Carly will be recording with Ben in the near future – a WATF song she recently wrote & a duet with Ben that he will make available as a free download.
  6. Carly’s mom got married in Vegas recently – congrats Marie!

Carly Talks With Ben on Podcast

Carly joined Ben Moody on his podcast recently, and Ben released the first part of their talk on Sunday via YouTube.  The appearance was originally promised for Thursday, but it appears computer issues pushed it back.  Carly joined Ben via Skype.

Summary: Carly reveals that she will be wrapping up her stint with Crique du Soleil in the near future, and is looking forward to coming back to LA & doing “personal music” again.   She talks about how great it was to work with them.  Ben reveals again that indeed they have all been working on We Are The Fallen music among their other projects.

“Huge News” are the words Carly used in a tweet last night that she has something big to announce, and will be doing so in the near future “via video” with Ben Moody – presumably this means she will announce it on his podcast.   Here is the complete text of her tweets from yesterday:

HUGE news! You’ve all been asking for info. I have a new direction that I am taking and will share soon via Video with Ben. Cant wait!

Ive been really busy working and I hope you all like my new creation. Cant wait for you to hear

People Magazine – Idol Issue

We have a copy of the photo and the text transcript from the portion of People magazine’s Idol “Where Are They Now?” special issue pertaining to Carly.

Here’s the article:

Four years after her Idol exit, the Irish-born singer is hanging with The King: She performs in the Las
Vegas Cirque Du Soleil show Viva Elvis. “It’s been honestly just amazing,” says Smithson, 28. “I’ve always
been a big fan of Cirque Du Soleil. I actually didn’t believe the casting lady when she called and asked if I
would be coming. I thought it was one of my friends playing a joke.”

On her weekly break, she heads to L.A. to work with her band We Are The Fallen on their next album.
She finds the contrast delightfully disconcerting: Viva, she says, “is very upbeat-everything that I’m not!
It’s like going from my band to Glee!”

Something else that’s new and fun: getting to stay for the entire show. During her first big stage gig, in
Les Miserables, she recalls, “I was 9 years old. I’ve never actually seen the second half! You are kind of
shuffled in and out, because children can’t be there that long.” This year, she says, her husband, tattoo
artist Todd Smithson, “has promised that I will see the second half of Les Miz!”

Moody’s Mood For Podcasts

Ben Moody continues his Pardigm or POP casts, which often include musings on music, philosophy, stem cell therapy, and Battlestar Galactica, in no particular order.

Go here to see the podcast links and click on anyone to hear a past broadcast.

If you’re looking for WATF or Carly info, you won’t find much.  However, on this podcast he did (at about the 35-41 min. mark) talk a little about WATF & Carly.  Basically he says the following: WATF is still together & still a band; they are still working on new music; we don’t know when we’ll have it available; sorry for the disappearing act but there are many reasons why things got delayed – life, money, lawsuits, record labels, etc.

This is followed by Ben’s new song “Remember Me” which is quite good – take a listen!

We’re baaaaaack…

Sorry I have been away for awhile – the WATF/Carly news has been few and far between & I have been extremely busy with personal stuff.

Anyway let’s get back to business with some new things:

People magazine released a special issue to newsstands called “American Idol Where Are They Now”  which has info on every Idol contestant for the first 10 seasons.  Including of course our beloved Carly Smithson. (See cover image below.)

Carly gets a fairly large photo of her in her Cirque du Soleil outfit, and mentions that and of course We Are The Fallen.  I  will work on getting a transcript & scan of the photo ASAP.
