Help Carly & Todd Raise Money For the National Stroke Association

In an effort to raise money for the National Stroke Association, Carly’s husband Todd Smithson is running the New York Marathon on Nov. 6th, 2011.

He has set a fundraising goal of $3000, and has collected pledges of $2620 so far.  Click here to donate more and help Todd & Carly reach their goal.

This charity has an especially personal meaning to Carly, as she experienced stroke symptoms while on tour with We Are the Fallen last year.  Here’s Carly’s full tweet on that:

This means so much to me and I would be so grateful if you guys could help me raise $3000 dollars . My husband Todd is going to run the NYC marathon this November . He will be a member of the National Stroke team and will run to raise money for their charity. Stroke has become very much a part of my life over the past few years and I have thrown myself into researching everything about it. I started experiencing mild symptoms while out on tour with my band We Are The Fallen last year and then when tour ended something a little more serious happened. Im still undergoing tests with my doctors and hope to never experience a full blown stroke. Since getting off tour Ive been able to surround myself with a wonderful medical team. I feel like im in good hands and hope to get back out on the road with my band sooner rather then later lol. Oh how I miss them all !!!! Anyway please help me raise the goal of 3k so Todd can run and I can meet him at the finish line 🙂
Love you guys !!!! Lets do this

As a bonus, Ben Moody has promised those who donate $50 or more access to an exclusive webcast called “Ben Moody’s 10 things you never knew you needed to know….and wish you could forget.”  Click here to see the very sketchy details.

We Are The Fallen News From Ben Moody

Ben Moody also recently published on his Tumblr account, a summary of the current state of affairs for We Are The Fallen.  In summary he said that:

  1. The DVD of the Cirque Des Damnes concert is complete but has been held up due to legal issues.  These issues have now been resolved and he now looking for a distributor.
  2. Evanescence – old, new, and anything in between?  “I don’t know, but that sure sounds swell!:)”
  3. WATF is still writing and recording new music, though the group’s other projects and the aforementioned legal issues have slowed things down.  Be patient…it is coming.  And he is encouraging Carly to express her frustration through her lyrics 🙂
Here is Ben’s complete post:

Messages while I was away

Sorry to everyone who left me a message while I was away. I was/am not intending to be rude, but social activity during the past months has been the farthest thong from my mind and priorities. I tried to look them over but I honestly just can’t give each one the time it drawers so I’ll cover a few recurring themes briefly…
1. Lots of questions about the DVD. It’s finished. Its been finished for quite some time. However a man lacking a brain, heart, penis, and soul decided to waste as much of my time and money as possible filing a frivolous lawsuit against me which temporarily prohibited me from moving forward at all with distribution of the DVD. Fortunately, the sycophantic simpleton waste of life has crawled back into the rathole from which he came and I am currently shopping for distribution. If I had known it would be this long I would have just waited until my NEXT birthday. Captain Hindsight wins again.

2. I saw something about new ev music, old ev cd covers, and some ev questions I honestly couldn’t understand. The answer to all is : I don’t know, but that sure sounds swell!:)

3. To the eloquent young blogger who simply wrote “fuck you”….. Perhaps with a brief lesson in the structure of a sentence you could rephrase in a way I could understand. I’m in a happy relationship so if that was an offer I’ll have to respectfully decline. At least until you send me a full body shot. Until then we have nothing further to discuss.

Finally, WATF is constantly writing and recording new music. It’s been a busy year for all of us on many levels. But law suits have a way of stalemating almost anything. So we appreciate your continued patience. I’m sure carly will have a LOT to say about the CHUD who wasted so much of our time and money on the next record so watch out…. I’m encouraging her to use as many “F” bombs as possible. So three cheers for profanity!

New Music From Ben Moody

Ben Moody has released his long awaited EP “You Can’t Regret What You Don’t Remember”.  In his tublr page he announced the following

Sorry to have disappeared, but the good news, in my absence, is that I’ve written two more CDs. I’m currently working on the official release and digital booklet/bonus materials for “You Can’t Regret What You Don’t Remember.” And I’m about halfway finished with an upcoming EP entitled “I Am the Distance.”

There was a brief free download period that has ended, but that it will be made for download soon.  His newer EP, “I Am The Distance”, is, as Ben says, half finished.

Carly Smithson in Upcoming Movie

It’s true.  Carly has taken a role in the upcoming indie thriller “The Final Act” (click to see the official movie website).

The film, directed by Chloe Finch, is scheduled to begin filming on October 2nd, and will have a 2012 release date.

Other actors in the film include April Marie Eden (Parks & Rec (TV), Mirror Image), Jesse Woodrow (Charmed (TV), Best Laid Plans), Leslie Easterbrooke (Police Academy, Devil’s Rejects), and John Posey (Robocop 3, Manhunter).  See the site for a complete list.

You can also follow (and like) the film on Facebook.

We will be keeping an eye on this as the time approaches.

Trivia:  this is not Carly’s movie debut.  As a child, she has a small role at the end of the 1990 film Fools of Fortune playing “Young Marianne”.  See it here!
